Emporos Systems Corporation began in January 2002 with the acquisition of MerchantSoft Enterprise Product Suite for multi-channel, multi-store merchants. MerchantSoft was a division of Kyrus Corporation, which was IBM’s largest business partner in retail worldwide. MerchantSoft architecture, development team, and customers became the foundation for the new company, which was profitable in its very first year.
Founder and President/CEO Greg Phillips has managed software development, sales, and service companies since the mid 1970’s. Phillips was previously the director of Chain Store Business Systems for Kyrus Corporation, which is now Agilysys Corporation. Prior to that, Phillips was President and CEO of a software company in the hospitality industry for sixteen years. Phillips has been involved in the development of touchscreen POS systems since their initial entry into the market in the mid 1980’s.
