Worldpay and Verifone Vx805 End of Support Notification

As part of the normal lifecycle of a payment terminal, Worldpay and Verifone has notified the market and Emporos that the Verifone Vx805 desktop payment terminal will be End of Support on April 30, 2021.

Verifone will not issue software updates or provide development support after April 2021,

except that, until April 2023:

  • They will continue to provide error corrections for Severity 1 (Critical) software errors, including security vulnerabilities.
  • In the event of a compliance mandate issued by PCI / payment card brands, they will work with you in good faith to agree on development support to address the compliance mandate, subject to appropriate compensation and as documented in a statement of work.

How long can I use the Verifone Vx805?

All existing Verifone Vx805 devices in working condition can be used until they are no longer operable or until April 30, 2023.  The Verifone Vx805 will need to be replaced by April 30, 2023 at the latest.

 

What device is available as an alternative to the Verifone Vx805?

Our gateway partners are currently working on offering a few alternatives to the Verifone Vx805. Our engineering team is already testing a few possible replacement devices that are validated P2Pe payment devices (see link to PCI Standards Council attestation below). We welcome and appreciate your feedback on what options would best suit your needs.

Can I add a new lane or site or replace existing lanes by purchasing new Verifone Vx805 devices before April 30, 2021?

Yes. After April 30, 2021, all new sites and new or replacement terminals will need to be replaced with the Mx915. All existing Verifone Vx805 devices that were purchased before April 30, 2021 will retain their PCI validation for Point to Point Encryption (“P2Pe”).

There is limited supply of Verifone Vx805 devices available for sale prior to April 30, 2021.

 

End of Development Date: Verifone is no longer conducting feature enhancements for the Verifone Vx805, including any functional improvements or changes, support for existing or new product or service, new EMV kernels or certifications, or any other enhancement.

End of Support Date: Worldpay or Verifone will not issue software updates or provide development support after April 30, 2021, except that, until April 2023: Worldpay will continue to provide error corrections for Severity 1 (Critical) software errors, including security vulnerabilities.

End of Service Date: Other than for devices subject to an extended warranty, Verifone will discontinue service and repair of the Verifone Vx805 after April 30, 2023. Verifone is no longer offering extended warranties or other support commitments that would extend beyond April 2023.
